I played Blood Drive and it surely is intentional. And if you're here to say "Well maybe you misunderstood / well maybe its gone in the next game". There's even a "secret ending" devoted to letting her pee that I think would easily make you beg for a refund if you got it on your first try. It honestly ruins any scene she's in, and then the weird way the game describes her having to pee, has her pee whenever shes in danger, and describes how gross it is having. An important plot development happens in the stupidest way possible just because she needs to pee and her entire personality being I love my onii-chan and I HAVE TO PEE was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mistake. The plot wastes so much time having Yuka fail to just use the bathroom anywhere with Satoshi looking away is insane. For a game with so much gore you'd assume there was some weird gore fetish here, but honestly no. I never realized how bad this was as a kid when I experienced Corpse Party for the first time, it is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ everywhere around Satoshi and Yuka. UNABASHED NOT DISGUISED WRITERS FETISH: INCEST AND WATERSPORTS Yuka was a mistake and a perfect transition to my biggest complaint with this game. You can say it once and just press on instead of restating it multiple times with different voice acting. I understand the situation but you don't need to describe every time the characters are crying, I get it. Ayumi was way way worse than I remember with the ♥♥♥♥♥ attitude and constant whining, and every character ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and cries a bit too much where it starts to get tedious to the player's enjoyment. The remake also doesn't make adjustments to dialogue or characters which I feel is a bit too faithful because GOD are some of the characters just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insufferable. Like maybe it was trying to come off as the character carefully walking over a broken floorboard, but it just looks very amateur to me. Not a huge deal, but there are so many moments in the game where you walk over tiles that present some sort of visual or audio cue and you can see the game stop for a second mid-transition, and the prevalence of it really took me out the game. Basically you'll step on a specific floorboard and it stops you for half a second to trigger an audio cue like a creak, and you'd keep walking on. I know to some people they'd prefer just a straight up remake, but in this game the remake is so faithful that you can still see audio triggers as you walk over them. Now, the remake also has a problem with being a bit too same-y. CGs are a necessary in a story presented with this type of gameplay, they should have added a lot more. This is usually fine but becomes a bit hard to sell as some more complex scenes will be represented by these goofy pixelated models with very little animation work and take you out of what's happening. The game relies very heavily on the horror of the described events letting your mind do the visual work rather than trying to represent them on screen to mixed effect. Throughout the game there are some big build-up moments to a chase or scene that lack any sort of actual visual representation. So starting off with complaints of the remake, the updated art style is great, but the lack of CGs where they would be vital to selling the scare-factor of a scene is pretty noticeable. I have complaints about this remake, but this is easily the best version of Corpse Party if you haven't played it before. The music is usually a bop and the atmosphere of the school is overall very satisfying. work, other than Yuka, and the plot is fine. The game is pretty quick to replay so accidentally going down a bad end route really isn't a waste of time. It's nothing mind-blowing but the detail put into the gruesome ways the characters die, and or can die with the wrong end system will trick a less familiar newer player into an untimely demise which I find to be a fun experience. This game revels in its grotesque descriptions and the premise is great. Now, for the first-time player, I think Corpse Party may still be worth recommending (sorry Paranormasight fans) as the issues I will bring up later are probably missed by the average inexperienced or unfamiliar viewer. So I have a lot of fond memories about Corpse Party and decided to return to see what I remember was a really unique horror game.
